Illegal Vacation Rentals Still Persist

A recent check of listings on VRBO and Homeaway.com revealed 5 Belleair Beach homes violating city code by offering short term rentals. The worst offender is a listing for 311* Tiffany Drive (aka La Bella Vita) with a 1 night minimum and average nightly rate of $922/night before tax. (At least it’s not homesteaded like another that was found). A 2 week stay at “La Bella Vita” in April costs $16,900 after fees and tax. Allowing for vacancy and maintenance that’s over $300k a year in revenue, more than enough to cover taxes, insurance and debt service. At that rate they are likely searching for another cash cow – hopefully not next to your house. Scroll down for the full list (current as of Feb 5th):
